About John White

John White, hailing from the picturesque foothills of North Carolina, is an avid fisher with a passion that runs as deep as the waters he frequents. From a young age, the New River’s serene banks became his playground, where he honed his skills in trout fishing. The river’s gentle currents and the thrill of the catch became an integral part of his childhood memories.

As he grew older, John’s love for fishing evolved, leading him to explore the exhilarating world of kayak fishing. The challenge of balancing on a kayak while reeling in a catch added a new dimension to his fishing adventures, making every trip a unique experience.

But John’s interests aren’t just limited to the water. On dry land, he’s an enthusiastic runner, often seen chasing the horizon during the early hours of the morning. The discipline and endurance he’s developed from running mirror the patience he exhibits while fishing.

Additionally, John is a keen golfer. He enjoys spending sunny afternoons playing rounds of golf, where the precision and strategy of the game offer a different kind of challenge compared to his fishing expeditions.

In essence, whether he’s by the water, on the trail, or on the green, John White embodies a spirit of adventure and a love for the great outdoors.

Hunting & Sports

Being from the “country” of NC, my teenage years were mostly made up of hunting/fishing and sports (plenty of videogames as well lol). Hunting was a hobby, but sports were my passion. I grew up playing basketball and baseball, but I fell in love with the game of golf…

  • South Atlantic Conference (SAC) All Conference Team
  • T1 Place Finish Irish Creek Invitational
  • 2nd Place Finish Tusculum Fall Classic
  • J. Ralph Hargett Memorial All-Tournament Team
  • Myrtle Beach Invitation All-Tournament Team
  • Lenoir-Rhyne University 4-year Letter Winner (2011-2014)

I was used to practicing hard for sports: suicides in basketball, late night baseball practice in the dark, running “stadiums,” etc. I practiced all of my 8th grade year to make the golf team in high school 9th grade. Practice was easy for me; I had never been in love with a sport like I was with golf. It had everything all the other sports I played was missing, ultimate accountability, no one to blame but yourself, and when it came time for tryouts my 9th grade year I was ready…

I didn’t make the team.

I was heartbroken. I was first introduced to the game by my dad. I was not only in love with the game, it was a distraction from his death my 7th grade year. The reality was, me not making the team didn’t matter. I was in love with the game. The rest of the year I continued to practice and made the team the following year.

Through my hard work on the high school golf team, I was offered a scholarship to play for Lenoir-Rhyne University. Through all four years I never missed a tournament and became the 4-year letter winner for the Bears.

mba & coaching

After my time as a player, I was offered a Graduate Assistant position to be a coach for the golf team while also completing my Masters of Business Administration. I have many ideas on golf mental game (which I hope to blog about) and, ironically, these all came from my time as a coach and not as a player.

Furniture │ career

After a short (but too long) time as an accountant, I moved into an area that allowed my relationship-building and personal communication skills to serve my career: sales.

I have experience and ideas on business development, CRM management, sales, sales management, account management, content creation, advertisement creation, negotiation, and much more.

Furniture has been a part of my life for a long time. My mom has worked and been a supervisor at Hancock & Moore in Taylorsville, NC for more than 25 years where I also worked for a short time in the frame department.

I now am lucky to be an Account Manager at Hickory Springs Manufacturing and spend all my time watching high-quality furniture being made every single day.
